Whitney Edmister, MD Joins Desert Radiologists

DESERT RADIOLOGISTS WELCOMES WHITNEY B. EDMISTER, M.D., Ph.D.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Desert Radiologists, Nevada’s largest and mtrusted medical imaging company today announced the addition of Whitney B. Edmister, M.D., Ph.D. to its group of Board Certified Radiologists.

Dr. Edmister received his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Bachelor of Science in Music from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1991. He was accepted to the Harvard Medical School M.D.-Ph.D. Program, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health through its Medical Scientist Training Program. He graduated Magna cum Laude obtaining his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2000 and was awarded the Sirgay Singer Research Prize for his thesis on functional MRI of the auditory cortex. Dr. Edmister also received a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Physics from MIT in the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology in 1999 for his thesis titled Improved Quantification of Breast Cancer Physiology Using MRI at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Edmister completed a one year internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2001. At the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, he completed a four year residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 2005. Dr. Edmister was fellowship trained in Cardiothoracic Imaging at the Mayo Clinic which he finished in 2006. In 2006 he was board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Edmister is a member of the Clark County Medical Society, American Board of Radiology, American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Edmister was invited to join Sigma Xi, the National Research Honor Society, and Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society.
